Update:

Remember Bella Rosa?

She was rescued by the Souda Shelter and needed a foster home so she could have her eyes removed because of the pain she was in due to Glaucoma.

Bella Rosa had her operation and healed beautifully and is now enjoying life.

As you can see she loves relaxing in the sun and is confident moving about herself.

I’ll be sad to see her go but Elizabeth

has a new retirement home waiting for her.

UPDATE ON BELLA ROSA

Bella Rosa, or as I like to call her, BellyRo, is in the best of care at the moment. Irene, who has fostered for us in the past AND had adopted Jojo, our blind Spaniel girl, has taken BellyRo in for as long as needed TILL BellyRo can go to her new home.

Yep, you read correctly and not only does she have one offer for a new home, she has two!

Irene is preparing her for surgery and on Friday will take her to be operated on. She will do BellyRo’s post op care (having the experience from Jojo under her belt) and once all healed our beautiful Bella Rosa will begin a new life. How exciting!

Meet Bella Rosa. A Britanny Spaniel who went through FIVE OWNERS. She started in Pireaus, sold as a hunting dog. She failed, afraid of gunshots and then was passed down and used for breeding. Her last home was with a very loving, very poor, addict.

She came to our attention when a local vet called us for help. Born in 2010 or older.

We have taken her case over.

We have accepted the challenge of making this animal well (at some point she will need eye surgery) and hopefully finding a home for her.

Help us defeat this challenge.

Γνωρίστε την Bella Rosa. Μία επανιέλ που πέρασε άπο ΠΕΝΤΕ ιδιοκτήτες. Ξεκίνησε στο Πειραιά, πουλήθηκε ως κυνηγόσκυλο. Αποτυχία, φοβόταν τους πυροβολισμούς. Στη συνέχεια μεταβιβάστηκε και χρησιμοποιήθηκε για αναπαραγωγή. Το τελευταίο σπίτι της ήταν με έναν πολύ στοργικό, πολύ φτωχό, άνθρωπο με εξάρτιση.

Ήρθε στην προσοχή μας όταν ένας τοπικός κτηνίατρος μας κάλεσε για βοήθεια.

Έχουμε αναλάβει την υπόθεσή της.

Έχουμε αποδεχτεί την πρόκληση να κάνουμε αυτό το ζώο καλά (κάποια στιγμή θα χρειαστεί χειρουργική επέμβαση στα μάτια) και ελπίζουμε να της βρούμε σπίτι.

Βοηθήστε μας να νικήσουμε αυτήν την πρόκληση.

The dogs have plenty of space. Employees are very involved with the animals. Very positive experience. Would like to bring a dog.

We adopted a dog when we visited Crete this year. The shelter is clean and the dogs have enough space. It's a non profit rescue organisation so they're thankful for every donation (money, dogfood, paying vet bills/medication...) or helping hands. The employees/volunteers love the dogs and take care very well. They do everything for them. Amazing and heartmelting work - everyday. They also helped us with all the documents, check-ups, vaccinations, organising the flight back home etc. Would always recommend this shelter if you want to adopt a dog.

Disappointed, we applied for help for an animal and were just ignored.

Friendly helpful staff and so many lovely dogs looking for new homes. We were greeted by some of the curious, calm girls of various ages out in the huge central yard getting their exercise. My kids were happily petting them and getting their toes kicked. Lots of opportunies for volunteering if you can't adopt a dog.

This shelter will always have a special place in my heart. We adopted our dog Moon from there in 2020, and he has been the greatest gift in our lives. Most loving dog on earth. He came to Germany from the shelter, and liz was super communicative, answering all of our questions up until the day we picked him up at the airport. Thank you to everyone at this shelter for all of your hard work. We will absolutely adopt another dog from here ❤️ 💙

My wife and I visited the shelter since we own a stray dog from Crete. The people there are doing a wonderful job with very limited ressources. The shelter is in a good stage and we were glad they showed and explained us their work. We were positively surprised how good the dogs look. This is the result of to the great work and all the donations. Thank you!
