Where to find us

Souda is a suburb of Chania, Crete.

Wherever your starting point on Crete is, look for Chania. Souda is a suburb in the East of Chania.

Souda also features the port where the ferry boats to Athen etc. leave. From the port it is a five minute drive or a ten minute walk.

You can come to the shelter by car or by bus. You can park next to the shelter.

If you come by bus from Chania, it’s bus line 13 from the Agora market in Chania. The line ends at the Souda Port and then goes back. Get off the bus at Mili or at the port.

If you come by KTEL bus on the Rethymno-Chania route  (via Petres, Kavros, Georgiopolis, Vrisses, Kalives, Aptera) get off the bus in Souda.

Especially from Kalives (stops: Dry cleaner, Square, Post office, Town hall, Synka Super Market) there are local buses, too.

Then it’s a 10 minute walk in the direction of the National Road. The shelter is basically next to it.

We love to have visitors at the Souda Shelter, but only by appointment via facebook.

If you would like to visit, please contact us at least 24 hours before to arrange a suitable time which would only be in the mornings between 10:00 and 13:00.

Please note that we are non profit and receive no funding and rely entirely on donations.

So a small donation will be greatly appreciated. The donation can be made directly at the shelter.

Thank you very much!
