Back story: Jerry has been at the shelter for a very long time (10+ years). Not much is known about his past, but Jerry is extremely cautious around people.

What to say about Jerry?
He is one of the founding fathers of the Souda Shelter Project. He’s been there since the beginning of our time. He is anti social with humans.
He does not like to be touched at all.
He is terrified of us. Everyone. Or at least we thought.
Yesterday he had his annual checkup at the vet and the doctor noted that he had seborrhea and recommended that we bathe him with a shampoo for seborrheic dermatitis.
How the heck would we do that?! Jerry?! Contact?!
And yet, the team did. Jerry has been at the shelter for ten years plus.
People immediately dismiss him because he barks and is timid.
Well this is the other side of Jerry. He has NEVER gotten this kind of treatment ever, we thought he would hate it. Far from it.
To more spa treatments Jerry!
We love you and hope someone will see this post and love you the same♥️ (maybe even more).

Please don’t let his life amount to time in a shelter.

Give this old boy a chance and show him something new, secure and wonderful…a home

Update December 2021:
This sweet boy is a gentle soul who gets along well with other animals, but he is quite cautious and fearful around people. He may approach them for a treat, but he is not yet comfortable with being touched. Jerry is in need of a special home with an experienced handler who can understand his fear and help him build trust and confidence. He needs someone who is patient and willing to take the time to help him overcome his fears, and who can provide him with a safe and comfortable environment where he can thrive. With the right guidance, Jerry has the potential to become a loving and loyal companion. If you are an experienced handler who is looking for a special companion to share your life with, Jerry may be the perfect match for you.

The dogs have plenty of space. Employees are very involved with the animals.
Very positive experience. Would like to bring a dog.

We adopted a dog when we visited Crete this year. The shelter is clean and the dogs have enough space. It's a non profit rescue organisation so they're thankful for every donation (money, dogfood, paying vet bills/medication...) or helping hands. The employees/volunteers love the dogs and take care very well. They do everything for them. Amazing and heartmelting work - everyday.

They also helped us with all the documents, check-ups, vaccinations, organising the flight back home etc. Would always recommend this shelter if you want to adopt a dog.

Friendly helpful staff and so many lovely dogs looking for new homes. We were greeted by some of the curious, calm girls of various ages out in the huge central yard getting their exercise. My kids were happily petting them and getting their toes kicked. Lots of opportunies for volunteering if you can't adopt a dog.

This shelter will always have a special place in my heart. We adopted our dog Moon from there in 2020, and he has been the greatest gift in our lives. Most loving dog on earth. He came to Germany from the shelter, and liz was super communicative, answering all of our questions up until the day we picked him up at the airport. Thank you to everyone at this shelter for all of your hard work. We will absolutely adopt another dog from here ❤️ 💙

My wife and I visited the shelter since we own a stray dog from Crete. The people there are doing a wonderful job with very limited ressources. The shelter is in a good stage and we were glad they showed and explained us their work. We were positively surprised how good the dogs look. This is the result of to the great work and all the donations. Thank you!
